GRETNA, NE (KPTM) – 12 more stores are coming to Nebraska Crossing Outlet Mall in Gretna. The developer, Rod Yates with OTB Destination said Columbia, Forever 21, Oakley Vault and Old Navy are among some of the new additions to the mall that is set to open on November 15th.
Others announced Friday were:
BeautyFirst, Bose, Hanes, Hot Topic, Lindt Chocolate, Rack Room Shoes, Tommy Bahama and Torrid.
The outlet shopping center located at the intersection of Interstate 80 and U.S. Highways 6 and 31 will offer 65 different stores and restaurants. Yates said it will create about 500 jobs.
But about 6-minutes down the road, a different retailer officially opened Friday—getting a head start.
Goodwill opened its 16th location in the metro area. The 15,500 square-foot building is located on the east side of Highway 31 and Bryan Street.
The store's COO, Randy Parks, said Halloween is the biggest shopping holiday for Goodwill Industries and staff wanted to be up and running a few weeks early.
"We always try to shoot to open up in September, October so that way we're here for our biggest time," Parks said.
Mary Holz, who was shopping with her three sisters for her birthday, said she was excited about the outlet mall opening, but was also happy there was an alternative, affordable option available outside of Omaha.
"It's going to be a nice place to run to, to see if you can grab a curtain or get a Halloween costume," Holz said. "It's going to be closer to us in Ashland than having to run all the way into Omaha."
Shoppers weren't the only people happy about Goodwill opening in Gretna. The store hired 26 part time and full time employees and is looking to fill the last four positions.
Cheryl Carter was one of them. She transferred from a different store that was further from her home in Gretna.
"Very economical," she continued. "I can walk if I need to, especially with today's prices of gas and everything."
Retailers with Nebraska Crossing are also hiring. Eddie Bauer needs about 30 employees, Forever 21 is aiming to hire 100 people, Gap wants to hire up to 60 and the Nike Factory is seeking 125 employees.
Many of the retailers will be at a job fair for Nebraska Crossing Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. at Burke High School at 12200 Burke St.
