OMAHA (KPTM) – Kids cost a lot. Multiply "a lot" by five. That's roughly how much it is going to cost a Sioux City couple to raise its quintuplets. The babies were released from Methodist Women's Hospital on Monday, which made the parents happy, but also aware of the financial challenges that lie ahead.
Jose and Bianca Garcia took home Marah, Christobal, Arleth, Jimena and Rosalyn after the five were born premature on July 25th. Their due date was October 17th.
The couple said when it took the first three children home; it went through about four bags of diapers in a week, which averaged out to about $100.
But the Garcia's biggest concern was feeding the babies because of the cost and time.
"You don't want your kids to starve," said Bianca.
The parents traded the truck for a minivan that seats seven. But the Garcias are now a family of nine. So when they take family trips, they will do it in two cars, as opposed to one.
"Getting them in and out of the car is a hassle," said Bianca. "But it's all worth it."
