LINCOLN (KPTM)- It's time the governor forfeit his taxpayer-funded health coverage until all Nebraskans can have access to quality health coverage," said Omaha Senator Jeremy Nordquist in his latest push to bring the Affordable Care Act to Nebraska.
He has launched a website for people to sign an on-line petition supporting his effort. The site is www.HealthCareFairness.com.
"While the governor has been blocking health coverage for low-income workers in our state, he has been enjoying generous taxpayer-funded health benefits," said Nordquist.
Meantime Fremont Senator Charlie Janssen said bringing ObamaCare to Nebraska will be expensive.
"It's too expensive, it's not necessary and it's not a well thought out plan," said Janssen.
"There will be about 50,000 low income Nebraskans working for minimum wage, who are not going to get health insurance because of the legislature and the governor not acting to provide them health coverage," said Nordquist.
"There are gaps currently, Blue Cross and Blue Shield sent out notices. We had the eighth highest rate hike of all the states for individual payers of insurance and a lot of people have lost their health insurance through Obamacare." said Janssen.
