Third Anniversary of Missing Student Yields No New Answers

Posted: Updated:

OMAHA(KPTM-It's been exactly three years since a Peru state student was last seen. Recently, a judge issued a death certificate for Tyler Thomas, who has been missing since December 3rd, 2010. But family members are still struggling for closure.

While many spend the holidays with family members, Kenetta Thomas-Ward only has photos of a cousin she wishes she could see just one more time. "I don't want to think of her has gone, but after three years you don't give up hope. It's just the inevitable that she may not be coming back," said Thomas-Ward.

And now, even after a judge pronounced her dead, Thomas-Ward says she still remembers clearly the day she found out Tyler Thomas was missing. Thomas, a Peru State student, was last seen leaving an off-campus party during the early morning hours of December 3, 2010. She hasn't been heard from since.

Thomas-Ward says getting a death certificate is a step forward, but she's still unsure if she'll ever truly get closure. "I have faith and hope that we do get those answers," said Thomas-Ward.
