SANTEE, NE (KPTM) - Eight stranded hunters on a frozen Missouri River are now safe thanks to the efforts of the Nebraska State Patrol.
It all happened around noon Thursday in northern Nebraska near the town of Santee. State Patrol tells us ice prevented Game and Parks from reaching the men, so a helicopter had to be called in to help in the rescue. We're told a dog was also pulled to safety.
Game and Parks says Thursday's mishap should serve as a reminder for everyone to be careful outdoors in ever-changing conditions.
