OMAHA (KPTM) - Nebraska fans far and wide are gearing up for the Gator Bowl in Florida on New Year's Day, but be forewarned it could cost you a pretty penny to get there.
"We've learned the longer you wait the more you'll need to pay," said Rose White, AAA Nebraska's executive director.
The agency's phones lit up Monday morning with eager fans looking for good deals.
"The phone calls have been pretty steady," said White.
AAA Nebraska is offering a pair of options for people to get down to Jacksonville. The first is by motor coach and the other is by flight making it convenient for travelers who want to head south.
"Both packages, of course, would include lodging, game ticket, pep rally and more," said White.
Husker fans who go another route to book their airfare risk racking up a lot of fees between now and game day.
Triple A reports a round trip plane ticket from Omaha and Jacksonville would currently cost about $760. That's up from $590 last week and is only expected to rise in the coming days. Keep in mind, also, that's only taking into account the flight only.
"The tighter the supply, the higher the demand, the more you'll pay," said White.
Bowl packages are also available for Iowa fans looking to head to Tampa for the Outback Bowl. You can get those through the University of Iowa Foundation or through Hawkeye Athletics.
