OMAHA (KPTM)- Firefighters are on the scene of a building fire in South Omaha.
It started just before noon Thursday near 24th and Center.
Seven fire trucks are the area where Can Pac Recycling is located.
Interim Omaha Fire Chief Bernard Kanger does not anticipate a cause any time soon.
"Because the entire roof collapsed, they are going to have to remove all of that debris in order to determine a possible cause. It could be some time," said Kanger.
Investigators were on the scene almost immediately. It took 30 firefighters about two hours to contain the blaze.
The building is a vacant recycling facility.
The Salvation Army Disaster Relief crew was called in to help.
The cold did not affect firefighter's equipment, but extra paramedics were on scene to help those battling the fire.
"We rotated crews through. As they operated for a certain amount of time, we bring them down and send out other individuals so they can rehab and warm up," said Kanger.
