OMAHA (KPTM)- "I'm sending this package to my grandmother in California," said William Kafka as he waiting in line at the post office on 144th and Dodge. It was a rare line. One that formed on a Sunday.
Two locations in Omaha, 144th and Dodge, and the branch at 11th and Pacific were open all day on Sunday to help with the rash of holiday packages sent to and from coast to coast.
"I have a busy week ahead of me, so this was nice to have the post office open on Sunday," said Colene Seeman.
The four self service centers at branches across the metro will be open 24 hours a day to help with the busy season as well.
The busiest day of the year at post offices around the nation will be Monday, December 16. Two more dates to remember are December 21 and December 23. Packages will be guaranteed for Christmas delivery if they are sent Priority Mail by the 21st and by Express mail by the 23rd.
