Posted: Updated:

OMAHA (KPTM)- Two children are dead after a trailer home fire in West Omaha Wednesday morning.

It happened at the Maplewood Estates trailer park near 126th and Maple. Authorities said 3-year-old Gabriel Rodriguez and 3-month-old Brandon Rodriguez died in the fire. Reports indicated that the two children were trapped inside the home.

The mother, Champaine Harn, is listed in critical condition at Creighton-Alegent Hospital. Her daughter was also treated at the hospital and is expected to be okay.

Firefighters said there wasn't a working fire hydrant at the location but that there was water at the scene. They said the fire advanced enough by the time fire crews arrived that the fire burned through one of the fire hoses.

The Omaha Professional Fire Fighters Association has established a fund to help benefit the family. The public is encouraged to make donations at the Omaha Fire Fighters Credit Union to the “Fire Fatality Benefit Fund.” All money donated will go directly to the family. The members of the Omaha Professional Fire Fighters Association have made an opening contribution of $1,000.

The address of the Omaha Fire Fighters Credit Union is 4630 S. 143rd Street in Omaha, 68137. The community can donate in person or through the mail.
