OMAHA (KPTM)- More snow had snow removal companies out getting as much work done as they could. That's because there hasn't been much snow to plow so far this winter and some companies are starting to see the effects from the lack of snow.
One and a half inches may look like plenty of snow, but for crew members at Luxury Grounds Management, the amount comes up short.
"It's not a normal day for snow. It's a very slow day," said Daniel Vlach of LGM.
New Years Day may have been slow for business, but crews and plows still worked hard to clear the way—even if there's not enough snow or work for everyone.
"Just enough snow to go out and get a little bit of work for some of these guys that have been sitting around waiting for snow this year," said Vlach.
Snowfall hasn't been much so far. Some crew members are left without work because of the lack of snow.
"I think the people it hurts the most are going to be the actual workers who rely on those hourly paychecks and they're not getting those right now," said Vlach.
Crews are left with only minimal work like laying sand and plowing every bit of snow just to get by.
"We're just doing, like, main drives. And we're not doing all of the sidewalks at all the properties. It's just enough to basically melt it so people can drive around safely," said Vlach.
Vlach said when snow days are slow like they have crew members working in–house—doing some things at the shop, but even that work runs out quickly.
