6th Arrest Made in Connection with Stolen Car at Scene of Shooting

OMAHA (KPTM)- A 6th person has been arrested in connection with a stolen car police think was used in a deadly shooting last week.

Police said 21-year-old Jacob Brown  is charged with receiving a stolen item.

Five others were arrested last week in connection with the stolen vehicle. Police said a jeep was seen leaving the area of 45th and Bedford around the time a 5-year-old girl was shot last Wednesday.

5-year-old Payton Benson was laid to rest Thursday morning. No murder charges have been filed in connection to the shooting.

The North Omaha community is holding a fundraiser for Benson’s family Sunday. There will be a chili feed at the Elk’s lodge from 1-4 PM.

There is also an anti-violence rally planned for Saturday. It will run from 2-4 PM at Omaha North High School. Community leaders will discuss anti-violence efforts.
