OMAHA (KPTM)- It happens every time it snows.
One person with four-wheel drive thinks they're invincible, but police warn, that is not the case.
"For some reason think just because I have this big truck with aggressive tires-doesn't mean you're going to stop any quicker than the guy driving the Prius," said Sgt. Joe Collins, with the Omaha Police Department.
Collins said that just because some people have the safety of four-wheel drive doesn't mean that they are safe on the road.
"Just because your vehicle can accelerate from 0 to 60 in six and a half seconds in the snow doesn't mean that you can stop," said Collins.
He said it takes cars three-to four times longer to stop in slick conditions, four-wheel drive or not.
"Having such a large powerful vehicle gives people a false sense of security," said Collins.
Collins said the best thing to do when out and about during a snowstorm is to slow down.
"It really doesn't matter what you're driving-ice is ice," said Collins.
