OMAHA (KPTM)- As soon as that snow hits, it probably means work for you getting your sidewalks cleared.
Even though it's bitterly cold, it has to be done because if you don't you can easily end getting billed because the city had to do it.
Omaha City law states that homeowners have 24 hours to clear their sidewalks after a major snow.
If the homeowner doesn't clear their sidewalk after being warned by the city, crews will come out and do it-and the homeowner will pay the bill.
Even though sidewalks are on private property, they are considered public, and must be maintained.
